Reverend Nick Rice, a native Kentuckian, received a BA in Philosophy (1963) and a Master of Divinity (1968) from St. Meinrad. In 1980 he completed his Master of Education degree at Boston College. He came to Our Lady Of Lourdes in 1998 as pastor. Prior to that he served as Pastor at St. Margaret Mary from 1987-1994.
He has been involved in many national Catholic organizations including serving as president of the National Federation of Priests' Councils from 1994-1997. He is the founder and executive producer of the Mass of the Air weekly TV program and appears as a panel member on the Moral Side of the News.
Deacon Nub Miller is a native of Sidney, Ohio. After graduating from Ohio University with a BS in accounting, he joined General Electric in Chicago. A company transfer brought him to Louisville where he completed thirty-four years of GE service.
Nub was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 1981 and assigned to the St. Bernard Parish. A reassignment brought him to Our Lady Of Lourdes in 1991 where his primary responsibilities are RCIA, Outreach and preaching. Nub and his wife, Betty, have three children and four grandchildren.
Deacon Gene Waldon was ordained in August of 2002. Gene, who has a degree in nuclear medicine technology from George Washington University, works at Norton Suburban Hospital. He completed the Ministry Formation Program and has a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry from the Russell Institute of Religion and Ministry at Spalding University. Gene and his wife, Liz, a retired registered nurse, have five children and one grandchild..
Gene's responsibilities include assisting in sacramental formation, leading communion and prayer services, and parish outreach.
Deacon Tim Ayers and his wife, Nina, just recently returned to Our Lady of Lourdes after belonging here originally in the early 1970’s. Tim, a lawyer, is the Chairmen of the Board of Merton Enterprises LLC, a multi-faced company. Tim was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 2006.
Tim completed the Ministry Formation Program. Both he and Nina, have received Certificates in Pastoral Ministry from the Russell Institute of Religion and Ministry at Spalding University. They have three children and two beautiful granddaughters. Tim's responsibilities include ministry to the sick and elderly and preaching.
Mary Caroline Marchal, a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati, OH, has been Director of Religious Education at Our Lady Of Lourdes since 1996. In this role she is responsible for most of the adult enrichment offerings in the parish. She particularly enjoys her job because of the wide variety of activities and the opportunities to meet with parishioners and make a difference in their lives.
Sr. Mary Caroline holds graduate degrees from St. Meinrad School of Theology and Loyola University of Chicago.
Elaine Winebrenner, the Director of Worship, joined the Lourdes staff in June, 2000. Elaine had previously served in the ministry of music and worship at several parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville. This includes thirteen years at the Cathedral of the Assumption where she was involved in the revitalization and renovation of the Cathedral parish and church and at St. Michael Parish in Jeffersontown. She has studied at the University of Louisville, Bellarmine and Spalding University - Russell Institute of Pastoral Ministry.
Elaine works with the liturgy planners, the worship committee, and is a resource for school liturgies. She is the parish Choir Director and is responsible for cantors, instrumentalists and handbell choirs as well as the Adult and Children's Choirs.
Jan Bloemer is the principal organist/keyboardist for Lourdes. She plays for the week-end liturgies as well as weddings and funerals. A native of notherrn Ohio, Jan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Louisville. Jan's teaching and music ministry has reached to schools and parishes in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. She has been involved in the Lourdes music program for over twenty-five years. Jan currently has a private piano studio and is active in the Greater Louisville Music Teachers Association.
Audrey Truax has been the Pastoral Associate at Our Lady Of Lourdes since 1990. Audrey, a former registered nurse, coordinated preschool through 8th grade religious education at St. Edward for several years and was a special education teacher assistant at the high school level for five years. She also directed the Archdiocesan Faith Clubs of young adults with mild mental disabilities for a few years.
Marge Borders came to Our Lady Of Lourdes as Administrative Assistant in March, 1999. She had been the Business Manager at St. Margaret Mary for the previous 13 years. She completed the Ministry Formation program in 1995. Her responsibilities include working as resource for Parish Council and Administration, Stewardship and Outreach Committees. Her responsibilities include computer resource, office personnel, parish finances, facilities management, office procedures and overall maintenance. She and her husband, Don, have three children and four grandchildren.
Ann Pifer is the Associate Director of Religious Education. She is responsible for preparation for Baptism, First Eucharist and Reconciliation. She oversees the Evening Religious Education Program, coordinates Vacation Bible School and leads special-needs First Eucharist preparation.
Laura Glaser became the principal of Our Lady Of Lourdes School at the beginning of the 1999-2000 school year. She brings a great deal of experience to the job. She taught in Catholic elementary schools for twelve years before becoming principal of St. Rita School where she was an administrator for more than 20 years. Along the way she earned a BA from Brescia College and a Master's degree from Spalding University.
Laura Zoeller, Coordinator of Youth Ministries, comes to us with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and English/Literature from Indiana University, and Master Catechist certification from the Archdiocese of Louisville. She has over 25 years of experience after serving as DRE/Youth Minister at St. Anthony’s in Clarksville, IN; retreat coordinator at Mount St. Francis, IN; teacher at Our Lady of Providence High School; DRE at St. Edward; and DRE/Youth Minister at All Saints in Taylorsville, where she currently also ministers part-time. She and her husband have three children and enjoy traveling.
Nina Schindler has been the receptionist at Lourdes since 1995. She became a Catholic in 1985 after completing the RCIA process at her home parish of St. Martha. She is the first person you will encounter when you call or visit the Parish Center. She completed the Archdiocese of Louisville Lay Ministry Program in 1994. She also facilitated a grief support group offered through The Family Ministries Office for over 10 years. The favorite part of her job is meeting and getting to know the many parishioners and other people who circulate in and out of her office every day. She takes pride in making our parishioners feel welcomed and appreciated whenever they visit their Parish Office.
Marie Pierce joined the Lourdes staff in January of 2005. Her duties include accounts payable, payroll and benefits and deposits for the parish, school and other church related organizations. She is an accounting graduate of the University of Louisville. She and her husband have three children and have been members of Lourdes since 1990.
Sharon Fisher, has been the parish secretary at Lourdes since 1986. She attended night classes at Bellarmine College and completed her Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree in 1994. Areas of responsibility include maintaining and updating the parish data system; scheduling the usage of all parish facilities; enters Stewardship Time and Talent information into the parish data system; generates Stewardship reports for staff members and parish organizations; obtains and distributes committee meeting agendas and minutes to the committees, staff and parish council. She and her husband Tom have three children and six grandchildren.
Donna Cerjak joined the Lourdes staff in March 2005 to coordinate the weekly Sunday bulletin. Donna, has been an active member of Lourdes for about eleven years. She and her husband, David, have two children, John and Jennie. When she's not writing the bulletin she enjoys reading and scrap booking.
