How Do I ... Do You Know?

Information for the parish bulletin should be submitted to Donna Cerjak or in writing to the Parish Office no later than 10:00 AM on the Monday before the desired publication date. Articles will be approved and published on a “space permitting” basis. Website information should also be submitted to Donna Cerjak.

To reserve space for a meeting, event, or activity on parish property contact Marie Pierce with the name of the event/function; date(s) requested; room requested; start and end time; and any special instructions. Please include a contact name and phone number or email address. Marie will confirm availability and advise.

Safe Environment Training is required for any adult who works with children and/or youth in any capacity, including but not limited to, coaching sports, school field trips, youth ministry, etc. Training is offered by the Archdiocese of Louisville. Here is the schedule of training sessions.

The Parish School is an integral part of the parish and is supported by the stewardship of the entire parish. There are two classes of every grade level in Kindergarten – 8. For enrollment or other information please call 895-5122.

Cost of Education
– An annual cost of approximately $5,000 is budgeted for the education of each child in the Parish School. We ask that all households keep this cost in mind when completing their treasure intention card. Our Lady of Lourdes parish families with children in the Parish School who fulfill the definition of an active parishioner will incur no tuition charge. If a family experiences financial hardship during the year and treasure intentions cannot be fulfilled, please contact the Parish Office as soon as possible. All calls are held in strictest confidence.

Religious Education (RE) is offered from September through April on Sunday morning from 10:15 to 11:15. Contact Beth Freeman or call the Parish Office, 896-0241 .

Sunday Preschool is offered for children ages 3 – 5 during 11:30 AM Mass from September to May, and is located in the Kindergarten classroom. No enrollment is necessary.

Child care is offered for walkers to age 3 during 11:30 AM Mass in the Parish Life Center. A parent co-op shares responsibility.

Afterschool Care is available during the regular school year on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM; and on Thursday from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. For information contact Maggie Hagan, or call 893-5881.

Corporate Gift Matching – Are you aware that many employers make a corporate gift match to schools for both their employees and their retirees? The parish is a 501 (c) (3) organization and 60% of every dollar donated to the parish goes to support the school. Work with your employer to confirm that you can double the value of your gift with a corporate gift. Contact Cindy Schultz for more information.

Pastoral Care Team provides care for people in all kinds of difficult and transitional situations. Team members are not therapists, but they make calls, visit, and send notes of encouragement to parishioners who are homebound, grieving, or experiencing difficult times. Contact Joni Richter for more information.

Eucharist for Homebound and Nursing Home residents may be requested by a family member for a parishioner by calling the Parish Office. Arrangements can be made for one of our ministers to go to the home or nursing home.

Visitation for Sick and Homebound may be requested by a family member for a parishioner who is hospitalized, a nursing home resident, or homebound by calling the Parish Office.

Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, formerly known as Last Rights or Extreme Unction, is a ritual of healing appropriate not only for physical, but also for mental and spiritual sickness. A family member may call the Parish Office to request anointing.

DivorceCare is a 13-week support group of friendly, caring people who will walk alongside through one of life’s most difficult experiences. Meetings are held at 7:00 PM on a rotating schedule. Contact Joni Richter for more information.

Prayer Line – Names or petitions may be added to the Prayer Line by calling the Parish Office, or Joni Richter. Anyone may access the Prayer Line by calling the Parish Office, 896-0241 ext. 123.

The Annulment
process has been updated and streamlined by the Archdiocese. To learn more, call the Parish Office. Several staff members have been trained and are very willing to answer questions and help guide one through the process.

Funeral Pre-planning
information is available by contacting Joni Richter.

Financial assistance is offered by the Outreach Needy Fund for those having financial difficulties. Individuals must be working through one of the local ministerial associations before assistance can be considered for partial help with rental or utility expenses.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an international mutual aid fellowship whose primary purpose is to help recovered alcoholics stay sober and to help other alcoholics achieve sobriety. AA is credited with helping many alcoholics achieve and maintain sobriety. For many years, Our Lady of Lourdes has hosted a weekly meeting of AA every Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Adult Center.
